Student life in the UK

As a student in the UK, you will discover endless ways to enjoy yourself, learn new things, make new and lasting friendships and have some brilliant adventures.

‘The UK is a beautiful country with many fantastic places to explore. I pretty much spend one weekend a month travelling (weather permitting). There are places of interest not just for those inclined towards nature, but also for those interested in history and city life.’

Stunning natural beauty

Spellbinding scenery, from the breathtaking scenery of the Welsh valleys, Yorkshire and the Scottish Highlands, to the majesty of Northern Ireland’s Causeway Coast, has inspired writers from Shakespeare to Tolkien to Dylan Thomas.

In the UK, you’ll be able to visit stunning landscapes such as the White Cliffs of Dover, the Brecon Beacons or the ancient, mythical ruins of Stonehenge - a UNESCO World Heritage Site which has been standing since around 2,500 BC.

‘Belfast is a big and modern city, but it’s also close to the sea. My campus is only about five minutes away and I can see the water from my accommodation. In the afternoons when the weather is good I often go down to take a walk by the sea’.

Al Ashikuzzaman, Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland

Buzzing cultural scene and dazzling nightlife

The UK is well known as the home of cultural icons from Hamlet to Harry Potter and no matter what you’re looking for, you’ll be able to find it here. From the dazzling nightlife of Glasgow and Cardiff to the bright stage lights of the West End in London - you will have an unforgettable experience here as a student and make memories that will last a lifetime.

When it comes to enjoying music, the UK is one of the greatest places on earth. We’ve produced world legends from the Beatles to Adele, Elton John, Ed Sheeran and Dua Lipa. So whether you want to enjoy dancing at Printworks in Manchester, get muddy at Glastonbury Festival or keep things classy at London’s Royal Opera House - we have concerts and nights out that will make your heart sing.

In addition to the nightlife and music scene, the UK has a wide range of top-class galleries, museums and cinemas that will keep you entertained for days. What’s more, most of them are free for general entry, or offer student discounts for special exhibitions, for example.
